POSITION OBJECTIVE:
We are a small business General Contracting Company seeking a Construction BIM Manager to work closely and collaborate with the Director of Information Technology to identify key areas for innovation and implementation of project technology plans. You will report to the Vice President of Construction Operations, with companywide recommendations, implementation and training of all construction related technologies. You will also work with project management teams and provide modeling design and assistance on projects specific to BIM and REVIT skills and capabilities. Utilize your experience and technical knowledge of facility infrastructure, and general building projects to ensure architectural and sub-contractor/contractor compliance with project requirements.
The candidate must have and understanding of all facets of building construction. Superintendent or sub-contractor field experience along with an aptitude in BIM/VDC technology would be ideal for this position. We are looking for candidates with a strong work history and one who is seeking long-term employment. References and a background check will be required.
Must demonstrate a passion for teaching as you will train APM Construction Technology Engineers. You will also utilize your skills to collaborate and train Project Managers and Superintendents in the latest construction technology and must have extensive knowledge of the functionalities and limitations of: Building Information Modeling (BIM), REVIT, MS Project, BLUE BEAM REVU, Google Sketch Up, Navisworks, Matterport 3D scanning and MS Project software to assist in the advancement of the company’s technological modeling, scheduling and construction management expertise.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Major Duties and Responsibilities):
• Oversee, train and direct the Assistant Project Management team in BIM coordination on projects from conception until completion.
• Understand project requirements and align technology team on processes, tools and outcomes.
• Identify, analyze and mitigate technology risks.
• Create maintain and execute project technology execution plans.
• Support construction project teams using Building Modeling Information (BIM) technology to facilitate the use of composite models in coordination meetings and identify and resolve any conflicts/clashes.
• Provide mentorship, training and supervision of the APM technology team in creating BIM Models and utilizing BIM/VDC, Matterport 3D Scanning, REVIT and Navisworks technology.
• Supervise and train Asst. Project Managers to make modifications to BIM Clash detections, when needed.
• Modify Architectural CAD/BIM files for use in MEP coordination.
• Interface and collaborate with sub-contractors/contractors to discuss and review their (external) BIM modeling coordination and determine if they are complying the scope of the job, engineering in accordance to the terms of their contract.
• Organize and facilitate BIM coordination meetings with all subcontractors for site logistics planning and BIM deliverables as needed within the project schedule requirements.
• Lead monthly technology meetings in collaboration with the Director of IT.
• Advance company experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) related technologies.
• Develop requirements and procedures specific to scheduling activities.
• Provide training to onsite scheduling professionals using MS Project.
• Coordinate all construction technology requirements and issues with the Director of Information Technology.
• Research, recommend, implement and train any assigned initiatives related to development of estimating systems.
• Must have exceptional presentation and communication skills.
• Must demonstrate a passion for teaching.
• Frequently travel to multiple site locations.
• Position requires a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
ADVANCED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• 7-10 years or more experience with BIM Modeling and REVIT.
• Proficient in electronic file transfer (email, ftp, SharePoint, CD/DVD, e-transmit, Publish)
• Has knowledge and will stay current in the latest National CAD/BIM and VDC standards.
• Ability to research, implement train and maintain all aspects of new construction technology.
COMPUTER & TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Must be able to embrace and adapt to ever changing technology. Must have extensive knowledge required to fulfill responsibilities of this position. Including the use of Microsoft Office, MS Project, BLUEBEAM REVU, Auto CAD, REVIT, Google Sketch, Matterport, Navisworks and or equivalent. Training in other Company software will be provided.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BS, or MS Degree or equivalent Construction Management experience.
7-10 years BIM management and Construction related experience required.
