Assistant Mechanical/Electrical Project Manager

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Mechanical/Electrical Project Manager will learn and utilize their experience and knowledge to assist the Senior. MEP Project Manager in the implementation of inspection within the
facility infrastructures and general building projects to assure contractors’ compliance in adherence to the project requirements in the field and through their submittals. You will offer analysis on a variety of value engineering options.

Train under the supervision of the Senior MEP Project Manager, general project managers and or project executive(s) with the objective to obtain P.E. license in four years from the date of hire.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Major Duties and Responsibilities):

• Assist in the management of the firm’s day-to-day MEP construction efforts on various projects.
• Assist in the preparation of daily MEP site activities in coordination with all building trades and perform inspections to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
• Assist with budget preparation and review subcontractors’ pricing to verify compliance with the contract documents.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the review and analysis of design MEP drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of daily site activities in coordination with all building trades and perform inspections to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
• Assist with budget preparation and review subcontractors’ pricing to verify compliance with the contract documents.
• Attend frequent Project Management and scheduling meetings and present project status reports.
• Create, organize and distribute construction schedule updates and project status reports.
• Compose, distribute and manage meeting minutes.
• Review contractor quotes for negotiations to prepare bid packages and scope preparations if delegated.
• Process, track and converse with contractors/subcontractors to obtain all required documents needed to process project close outs with expedience.
• Process, track and follow up on submittals, change order and or requests for information (RFI’s) to and from the contractors/ subcontractors to resolve pending matters with efficiency.
• Provide frequent and consistent communication to the Project Manager on the progress of all outstanding contractor/subcontractor submittals, RFI’s, change order requests and other pending items.
• Conduct and manage submittals of MEPFP audits from Superintendents by providing collaborative inspections and submitting updates and accurate documentation to the Project Manager monthly.
• Train with MEP PM to learn MEP estimating and bidding process.
• This position requires a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record as you must travel to multiple jobsites throughout New Jersey.

COMPUTER & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Must be able to embrace and adapt to technology required to fulfill responsibilities of this position, to include Revizto, Navisworks, Revit, Open Space, Procore, Building Connected, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, or equivalent a plus but not required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Entry level through 5 years’ experience.
